Let G be a countable group acting minimally on a totally regular curve X. We show an alternative: either the action is topologically conjugate to isometries on the circle  or  G contains a free nonabelian subgroup. This is a joint work with Hui Xu and Xiangdong Ye..

史恩慧，男，汉族，1976年2月生，教授。浙江大学数学系读本科，硕士，博士，研究发向为拓扑动力系统，在中国科学，数学学报，TAMS，Israel J. Math，ETDS，Fund. Math. 等国际著名数学期刊接受和发表论文40余篇，主持国家自然科学基金等项目多项。
