报告摘要 Abstract:
Log geometry is the natural framework for dealing with degenerations and compactifications, and it has played and will keep playing important roles in many branches of algebraic geometry, arithmetic geometry and complex geometry. 
In this short course, after a quick review of commutative unitary monoids, we introduce the basic notions log structures, charts, log smooth maps and log étale maps (also log differentials if time permitted). In the end we present the construction of the log étale fundamental group.
报告人简介：
赵和耳老师是哈尔滨工业大学的教授。他毕业于英国剑桥大学和意大利帕多瓦大学，之后一直在德国杜伊斯堡埃森大学工作，今年年底才回国任教。赵老师在算术代数几何尤其是log几何方面造诣颇深，在国际著名的数学杂志发表高水平论文多篇。
